We were recently sent Abigail the Story Buddy to try out. Abigail is similar to Watson, who we have reviewed previously, you can see that review here. The idea behind the story buddy is that as you read their book aloud, certain phrases trigger the buddy to join in the story.
Abigail is a gymnast, striving to be the best that she can be. She is a very girly girl, dressed completely in pink. She comes with one book, 'Abigail and the balance beam' a tale of her gymnastic adventures. You can also purchase three other books to go with Abigail.
My son was really quite taken with her. He seems to be going through a pink phase, preferring to play with many of his sister's toys (whilst she prefers to play with his)!
He's not quite clear enough with his words yet to get a response from her so he resorted to pressing her ear constantly, to turn her off and on.
My daughter likes Abigail, but seemed a little unsure when Abigail was 'talking'! I think she's a bit young for the concept, having only just turned one.
Abigail is a great story buddy and would make a wonderful present, either for Easter or a birthday. The story is good and not too long. The concept of a story buddy is great.
Priced at £19.99 Abigail is available from April 2012 in Hallmark stores and online . The additional books for Abigail are also available from the same outlets priced at £5.99 each.
