An interview with The Wiggles!

An interview with The Wiggles!

My son is Wiggles mad. His first ever trip to the cinema was to see them, he goes to sleep in Wiggles pyjamas, waves his feathersword and dresses up like Dorothy the Dinosaur and Wags the Dog. Roughly 59 times a day he pretends to be Jeff and I have to shout to wake him up! So, you can imagine my excitement when I was granted an interview with Anthony from The Wiggles.

So, here it is:

The other day we saw a clip from the 70s on TV, of The Specials performing Monkey Man. You write the majority of your own material, but how do you pick the songs which you cover?

Some songs are so good that we almost feel a responsibility to cover them so children can hear them, be it a folk song, rock song or a piece of classical music.

What is it like all being together again? Is the group dynamic the same second time round?

It's quite a celebration that we are here 21 years later. A celebration of Greg's return to health and the same thing goes for Jeff.

You have collaborated with so many other big names, is there anyone in particular who you would you like to work with that you haven't worked with yet?

Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Julio Iglesias or Madonna.

Have you ever thought of bringing out a Wiggly, Wiggly Workout DVD? I love dancing along to Hoop-dee-doo with my son and it definitely keeps me fit!

We get many requests to do it, maybe we should consider it.

What do you have in store for us on your forthcoming UK tour?

Songs from the last 21 years and even some new songs from our latest DVD 'Surfer Jeff' lots of audience participation and slap stick fun.

A final question from my three year old son who has been trying to think up a question for you - Jeff? Jeff? Can you hear me Jeff? Have you fallen asleep?

OK so it's four questions, but all along the same line!
The ticket release for the latest tour made me late for University – I was desperate for the boy to be able to go and see them. I managed to get us two tickets, and my tutor forgave me for being ten minutes late (although I didn't tell him why)! Seriously, it was nearly as stressful as trying to get Take That tickets for their last tour. However, I understand that there are still some tickets available. If you want to see an action-packed, fun-filled family show packed with energy, dance routines and a little bit of silliness, then what are you waiting for? The Wiggles UK tour kicks off on the 31st of May. They have dates all over the UK, including York, where we have tickets.

Update - Since I posted this yesterday, there has been a huge announcement from The Wiggles, namely that Jeff, Murray and Greg are going to be hanging up their wiggly jerseys and handing over to three new Wiggles at the end of this year. So this tour is now going to be a celebration tour of the 21 years they have had together. It looks like it will be the last time you can see all of the original Wiggles together.

Here is an announcement from The Wiggles.

I will have an interview with The Wiggles on the blog in the next few weeks to digest this development. If you have any questions you want to ask them, either comment on this post or send me your suggestion on Twitter @HelpfulMum
