What has made me happy.
Week eight
We are reunited! The four of us are back together again for good. That is the longest my children and I have gone without seeing my husband, their dad. The boy has punished him a little by being mean to him but that was to be expected. We finally saw my husband last Thursday morning, before he and I headed off to the Olympics together. We have had a great time visiting family but it is really nice to all be back together again!
Week eight

We have had a great time visiting family but it is really nice to all be back together again!
- Tackling the Jubilee Maze with the children. We had a bit of a scary moment when my son ran off and we couldn't find each other for about five minutes but once we found each other it didn't take us long to get to the centre. I visited this maze on my first ever school trip on a week away from home aged 8 and it was great to go back.
- We also went to a butterfly zoo which was fantastic. The beautiful butterflies flew all around us, landing on my daughter who was completely nonplussed!
- The sunshine. Once again we have had some lovely weather. The boy found a frog in a park in Oxford. We also stayed with family in Leicester and it was lovely for the children to be able to play out in a real garden instead of just a yard!
- The Olympics. On Thursday my husband and I went to see the athletics. We got to see a world record and also Usain Bolt in the 200m final. It was an amazing experience and something to remember for the rest of our lives.
- Family. My mum and sister both helped out looking after the children whilst we had a night away. The kids don't get to see them so often and it has been really lovely spending time with them. We also stayed with my dad who is recovering well following his triple bypass. My daughter is utterly smitten with him and followed him about everywhere.
We have had a lovely week and now it is back to normality for a couple of weeks before we fly off on holiday.
