Nickelodeon Land Review

This week we were incredibly lucky to be invited to Nickelodeon Land to meet Poppy Cat and many other Nickelodeon characters. I ended up just taking the boy, the girl had a day out with the childminder to the ice cream farm! I thought it would be easier just to have one child, because my daughter is only two and it would have been hard to get us all on rides together.  When we arrived we were introduced to Poppy Cat, who got all the children dancing and then told them some stories. Poppy Cat will be appearing every day at Nickelodeon Land. She will be meeting and greeting youngsters and hosting story time.

After a great time listening to stories and watching the boy copy Poppy's dance moves, the boy headed straight for The Krusty Crab, Order Up. This is a ride which throws you up and down in the sky. I have to admit to screaming. It was really embarrassing, but I just couldn't help it! There was no queue for this ride so we ended up staying on three times in a row. My tummy couldn't take it any more, so I had to persuade the boy to get off for a bit. It didn't stop us going on it a further three times during the day. He adored this ride.

Next up we queued for about ten minutes to get on Dora's World Voyage. This was a far gentler ride and my stomach approved! There was loads to see and it was interesting to hear different languages as we floated along.

Then we waited around ten minutes to get on to Sponge Bob's Splash Bash. I took this photo from the queue, you can see how wet you get even whilst waiting! We got soaked! Absolutely soaked. One dad totally had it in for me and I came off looking as though I'd had a morning swim in my clothes! The squirters were quite difficult for the boy to manage, but he still enjoyed the ride.

We both decided we were hungry after this, so we set off to find some food. We went to the Big Pizza Kitchen where they have an all you can eat buffet for pizza, pasta and salad.  It was £7.50 for an adult and £3.75 for a child. I thought it was really reasonable and the quality was very good. It also meant that I didn't have to cook the boy any tea, sandwiches sufficed! Bonus!

After lunch we decided to shake our food up a bit with a trip on the Blue Flyer rollercoaster. This is a very short ride but lots of run and it gets up some good speed. The longest queue of the day was for the Rugrats Lost River log flume. We waited around 45 minutes for this. However, it was absolutely worth it. We got pretty wet, but the boy thought it was brilliant!

After this we headed for the rides which went high up into the sky. I loved how you could control how high the Fairy World Taxi Spin went. Although we spent the whole of the ride as high up as we could! Diego's Rainforest Rescue left us rather dizzy as we were perhaps a little too enthusiastic at spinning the balloon round. Obviously you could spin it as fast or as slow as you preferred!

There were only a couple of rides in Nickelodeon Land which we didn't go on. My son was too small for the Avatar Airbender and Nickelodeon Streak. He would have loved to go on both because he is a speed demon! It won't take long before he grows the last few centimetres and will be able to go!

The one ride the boy wanted to go on by himself was the Big Circus Bounce. He had a great time and it was nice for me to watch him by himself on a ride.

In the rest of Blackpool Pleasure Beach we only ended up going on one ride, the Wallace and Gromit Thrill-O-Matic which, if I am honest, was a little bit disappointing. In fact, it is the only ride which the boy didn't ask to go on again. I think he just didn't like the dark. I was waiting for it to get a bit more exciting, but it didn't!

The final ride of the day was the Backyardigan's Pirate Treasure which was great fun and faster than it looked. There was relatively no queue which meant we pretty much hopped straight on. The boy made us sit in a boat with an orange sail as it is his current favourite colour! He didn't expect it to go backwards though! Before we left we went to the shop to buy a present for the girl. I was pleased that it was very reasonably priced.

We had an absolutely fantastic day, arriving at 10.15 and not leaving until 16.30! I hadn't expected to still be there so late. We spent the majority of our day in Nickelodeon Land and you could easily spend an entire day there.

Poppy Cat promises to bring extra fun to guests at Nickelodeon Land where younger children can learn and have fun with the colourful character, whilst enjoying the 12 amazing rides based on characters from one the world’s favourite children’s channels. Have a look at Nickelodeon's website for further details.

Disclosure: We were provided with two wristbands for entry into Blackpool Pleasure Beach in return for a post on Poppy Cat.
