We were recently sent three multi-packs of a new range of crisps from Walkers, Mighty Lights. We don't eat many packs of crisps in our house, but when I let the children eat them, I make sure that they are the healthiest options possible. Mighty Lights claim to be healthier than normal crisps, and 'perfect for kids' lunchboxes'. So I was really interested to see what they tasted like, given that they have 30% less fat than standard crisps.
We tried them when the children's grandparents were staying with us. They were a hit with all generations, and they also had the approval of Kermit the frog, who particularly liked how well the crisps fitted into his mouth!
I wasn't keen on the cheese and onion, or the roast chicken flavour, but that is my personal taste, and I wouldn't have bought them anyway. My husband and his parents both enjoyed those flavours, so if you like those flavours usually, then I am sure that you won't be disappointed.
What they say
It can be tricky to find great tasting lunchbox snacks that keep both kids and mums happy.
NEW Walkers Mighty Lights ridged crisps are tasty yet light with 30% less fat*. Made from real potato with no artificial colours or preservatives and no MSG, they're perfect for little lunches.
Whether you choose a packet of Cheese & Onion, Lightly Salted or Roast Chicken flavour, pack a tasty punch with a bag of Walkers Mighty Lights in your kids' lunchbox!
Good points
They taste really nice, I don't know why that surprised me, but it did!
Really crunchy.
Both children loved them, and so did their grandparents, who were staying with us when we tried them.
They are lower fat than standard crisps and have fewer calories than normal crisps.
Bad points
Whilst they may be a healthier option of crisps, I wouldn't give them to my children very often, but that is my personal choice.
There are other crisps aimed at children on the market which are lower in fat and have fewer calories.
Would I buy them?
Yes, I really enjoyed them and I am not a huge fan of crisps. The children enjoyed them too and I would be happier giving them these than another bag of normal crisps. Mighty Lights are reasonably priced for a multipack of crisps too. They are definitely a great occasional snack.
