We were recently sent a Maxi Micro Scooter for the boy to review. I wanted to see if it is worth the money. We were interested to try it because the boy has had a scooter since he was two and a half. He chose one from Toys R'Us which flashed and it cost £24.99. At the time we looked into buying a Micro Scooter, but it was just too expensive for us and we didn't think it could be worth the extra money.
How wrong we were! The boy used to love his old scooter and regularly rode it to school, but it was heavy and clunky. I thought the steering would be easier on his old scooter because it had a secured steering angle and I have to admit that he didn't ever have a problem steering it, nor did his sister when she went on it. It was a good scooter, but it was heavy and the wheels didn't roll very smoothly even on the pavement.
I wasn't sure if the boy would be able to steer very well, because he was so used to just turning the wheel, rather than leaning to change direction. He got it straight away and was soon scooting far too fast for my liking! I had no idea you could make a scooter go that fast.
What they say
Maxi Micro Scooter Blue T Bar
The Maxi Micro is the scooter you've seen at the school gates and is the one all your children's friends have.
3 puncture free wheels for stability
Tilt and lean steering helps develop fine motor skills
Stable and robust frame and footplate
Perfect for children aged 6-12.
*The only thing I would question here is the age. On the box, it said from age 5-12, and my son who is 5 is perfectly capable on his.*

Good points
Really easy to manoeuvre.
Light for parents to carry back from school when your child has scooted there.
Fast.
The wheels are puncture free, which definitely give you peace of mind.
Easy to clean (luckily).
Doesn't take up much space.
Works on many different terrains.
Bad points
Sometimes sticks or small stones get stuck in the scooter's back wheels, but this would be the same with most scooter models.
Would I buy it?
Definitely. It has made me wonder why we didn't just spend the extra money on the Mini Micro Scooter initially. The Mini Micro Scooter is priced at £54.95 and the Maxi Micro Scooter which we have reviewed costs £99.95. Yes it's a lot of money, but you are investing in something which your child can use every single day and this is definitely better quality than his old scooter. In fact, two days after he was sent this, he sent his old scooter off to the charity shop! He has used it near enough every day since he got it and his old scooter was barely used once a week. I now have to run alongside him on the school run, which is definitely good exercise for me!
We have even made a YouTube review, where you can see that even a dragon can ride a Micro Scooter!
The girl was sent a Mini Micro Scooter and she is less enamoured with it. Possibly because she got a Mickey Mouse scooter for Christmas which she specifically asked Father Christmas for, so she is still obsessed with that one. The one she was sent is also pink and she really dislikes pink. We are keeping hold of it for now in the hope that she may change her mind over the course of the year!
For one lucky reader, I am offering you the chance to win an adult Micro Flex Scooter, worth £99.95, so that you can scoot along with your children, or how ever you want to scoot. To enter, simply fill in the Rafflecopter widget below.
