Festivals in Swindon
Located in
Wiltshire, just off the M4, Swindon is a charming county town set in some
gorgeous English countryside.
Living in

here, the area also knows how to put on a party.
Over the
summer months, the area comes alive with events, festivals and activities for
all ages, meaning there is always something to do in Swindon. With plenty of property for sale in Swindon, you too could
become part of the community.
Swindon Music Festival
Founded way
back in 1909, the Swindon Music Festival was set up and is run to advance the
arts in the area. The festival provides a platform for amateur musicians to
play alongside professionals, and encourages the love of music for all ages. As
well as performances, there are classes in a range of instruments and styles
suitable for all ability levels.
Mela
A festival
celebrating South Asian arts and culture, the Mela festival showcases food,
music and more from this vibrant part of the world, with both local and
international acts taking to the stage. It’s a really interesting and important
cultural exchange, and one that anyone can enjoy.
Reading and Glastonbury
If you like
your music a little rockier, then Swindon is ideally placed to visit both the
Reading and Glastonbury music festivals. Held every two years these days,
Glastonbury is one of the world’s biggest and most prestigious festivals, attracting
the biggest names in the business. This year sees country legend Dolly Parton
headlining.
Reading is
aimed at a younger crowd and is also one of the UK music scene’s biggest
events.
Local festivals
The
surrounding area is also home to countless smaller scale festivals and fairs.
Events such as the Chippenham Beer, Cider and Perry Festival take place
throughout the year, so keep your ears and eyes peeled for local events.
These
smaller, community-based events are a great way of getting to know local people
and integrating into the community.
With so
much going on throughout the year across a range of different areas, Swindon is
a lively and thriving place to live. So, why not dig out your wellies and get
ready for a summer of festival fun? Just don’t hold your breath for good
weather. This is the UK after all.
