Anti gay is not OK.

Excuse me whilst I get up on my soap box, but I am just a little bit angry, and I very rarely rant on my blog! I have just come out of an African Politics lecture on sexuality in Uganda. We watched this video in the lecture and it made me get goosebumps because I was so annoyed at the homophobic attitudes which were being put forward by the US evangelical missionary.

"The gays" are not out to get Ugandan children in order to "turn them gay". That is the biggest load of bullshit I have ever heard (excuse the foul language). If it transpires that your child is gay, then they always were. You can't make a person homosexual. Just as you can't 'cure' a person of homosexuality. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual. Nothing at all. It is not a sin. Being gay is an intrinsic part of being a human being. You don't choose it, in the same way you don't choose to be straight. It simply is who you are.

End of.

I have also published a vlog on this on my YouTube channel, which you can watch below.

So persecuting a section of society simply because they are being themselves, is ridiculous. It's like saying we're not going to let blonde haired people marry brown haired people. I do accept though that attitudes in the UK twenty years ago were potentially fairly similar, but it surprised me that attitudes like this are still so prevalent in some countries.

I feel sad that people don't accept other people for who they are. Seriously, why should race, religion or sexuality even be an issue. We're all different, so why not embrace that, rather than rejecting and excluding others?
