Week 116 - What has made me happy

Happy New Year everyone! New Year's Eve saw us taking our cat to the vets as he hadn't eaten in a couple of days. He was pretty lethargic. The vet told us to keep an eye on him, but we ended up taking him back to the vets as an emergency on New Year's Day morning. He stayed there for five days, on a drip and being given antibiotics, so it was quite a stressful beginning to 2015! We had three groups of friends staying over for New Year's Eve and it was brilliant fun. We drank far too much alcohol and stayed up way too late (I Skyped my sister in San Francisco at 2.30am our time). It was a cracking night. Surprisingly there were only two people feeling rough the next day and I wasn't one of them. My friend's daughter played with our children all of New Year's Day, which was brilliant for us rather sleeping adults! We each took it in turn to have cat naps during the day. It was so, so nice to see our children play so well and not fall out. Generally when they play just the two of them, all they do is bicker, which drives me mad!

Here is what has made me happy this week...

Cat back from vetsFrozen leaves

  • Bruce the cat coming home from the vets. He is much skinnier, but he is happy to be home and we are so glad to see him again. I am positive he wouldn't have survived if we hadn't taken him.
  • Frosty mornings. The frost really is amazing how it forms on the plants.

  • Dramatic mornings. The sun hasn't been around much this week, but the skies have been stunning in the morning.

Goodbye Christmas TreeSwinging in the sun
  • Enjoying the Christmas tree before we took it down on Sunday. I have adored our tree this year, it still looked healthy when we took it down.
  • A sunny trip to the pub for lunch and then the park afterwards. It's so nice when we get out and waste some energy.

  • Gorgeous sunrises. Again, the sun didn't last all that long, but it was so nice to see the sun even if it was just for a little while.

It has been a good week and it has been made better by the cat recovering and coming home, which we weren't sure he ever would. I also spent Monday just with my boy because my daughter was at school. It is so rare we get to spend time alone these days, so I like to make the most of it.
