I was excited to try Sugru, the world's first mouldable glue that turns into rubber. It sounded like an incredible idea and I don't like to throw things away, so it was a match made in heaven. However, initially I didn't have anything which needed fixing, so I played the waiting game! The first thing which was perfect for the Sugru treatment was my husband's iPhone charger.
Sugru is the world’s first mouldable glue that turns into rubber. The silicone technology is patented and unique. I certainly haven't seen anything like it before!
Initially Sugru feels similar to play-dough, and it is as easy to mould as well. It bonds to pretty much any other material and hardens just by exposure to air. It is durable and stays strong in both the freezer to a hot shower!
It doesn't conduct electricity. so it is suitable to be used on these bare wires on the iPhone charger.
It was really easy to use, and you simply roll it around in your palm for a bit to make it more pliable. Then you mould it around the item you are fixing. Find somewhere safe (away from children) to put it and leave it for twenty four hours. Then the rubbery, pliable material has hardened to be rock solid.
It completely fixed my husband's iPhone charger and has made it far safer and we no longer need to buy a new one now!
Literally two days after my husband's charger was fixed, my children somehow got some of the rubber off my weights. I knew it would be annoying when I was lifting the weights, so I thought of Sugru.
Luckily I found that there was a pink Sugru (Panther Pink in fact) and it pretty much matched my weights exactly! I was pleased and set to work fixing it. Again, I left it for twenty-four hours and then it was solid. I knew now that it wouldn't irritate me when I was working out, so I was happy with how it turned out.
You can use Sugru on pretty much anything. It would be great for fixing children's toys, and I also have it lined up to fix the plastic rim of the cheese grater which has cracked!
Sugru is available in a range of different colours to keep everybody happy, and to mend most things. You can even protect you mobile phone around the edges. Sugru is priced at £12.99 for a pack of eight. It's well worth the price. An Apple iPhone charger would have cost more than that if I'd had to buy a new one!
Sugru is a new addition to our workshop and it's definitely here to stay! I love that there is a product which means I can fix things which break rather than throw them away.
