Barbie has now been a staple in my daughter's toy box for around six months. I am surprised at how much Barbie has changed since I was a little girl. She is definitely far more out there, and she also seems to turn her hand to anything, including being a princess and a rock star!
We were sent the latest addition to the Barbie family, the Rock 'n Royals. She is a princess who, with a simple life of a microphone, turns into a rock star. Her name is Courtney and she performs two very catchy songs. My daughter and I already know most of the words to both of the songs! As well as lifting her microphone to get Courtney to perform, you can also press the jewel in her necklace. There is another doll in the range, called Erika, who goes from rocker chic to pretty princess with the push of her super cool guitar.
Courtney has been busy putting on shows for some of the other toys (please excuse Christophe's shirtless top half, he seems to lose it far too often). Woody is particularly impressed with her when she's dressed like a princess because she reminds him of Bo-Peep. My daughter really loves this Barbie. My only gripe is that she can't sit down, it must hurt her feet standing in those heels all day!
There is also a new DVD to accompany Courtney. Barbie in Rock ‘n Royals is released on DVD and Digital Download from the 31st August. For more information and to purchase the range, check out the website. The Courtney doll has an RRP of £22.
To celebrate the launch of the new DVD Barbie in Rock ‘n Royals Barbie are partnering with Little Mix to give girls the chance to enter a singing competition to ‘Raise Your Voice!’
Little Mix will pick the lucky winner who will also get to meet the band at their concerts! The competition runs from 5th September – 18th October, and you can enter by visiting this website.
