When we are stuck for something to do at the weekend and we fancy going to a pub, we often head to our local Brewers Fayre. It's about ten minutes drive from our house and has a small play area. It's always an enjoyable trip, the children play whilst we are waiting for food, which means that my husband and I can enjoy time talking to each other.
We were invited to review the Dalesway Brewers Fayre near Keighley. It's a bit of a trek from our house but it was nice to get out at the weekend. The pub is a lot larger than our local pub and the soft play area is absolutely massive. It has recently been updated with a Denace the Menace theme.
We sat in the dining area next to the soft play. My first impression was that it was pretty chilly there compared with the rest of the pub. However, I am guessing that this is largely because the children get so hot running around. Certainly our children were absolutely boiling!
The play area is suitable for younger children, with a separate area for them within the larger play area. There is aboutely tons of space for children to play in and my two who are six and four had a whale of a time. The giant pink slide was a particular hit. The whole area was clean and well maintained and it was a wonderful place for children to let off some energy.
I was impressed with the children's menu. There was plenty of choice and you can mix and match the sides. I also really like that you can order milk as an option for drinks. So often your only options are sugary fruit drinks.
My son ordered cod balls, my daughter spaghetti bolognaise, my husband the supreme sausage and mash and I ordered chicken and ham pie. All the food was well cooked and tasted absolutely delicious.
For pudding, I chose a caramel and apple crumble. My daughter opted for chocolate brownie and my son went for the ice cream sundae. Again, we were all incredibly impressed with our desserts.
The staff were fabulous and although it got busier while we were there, they were always happy to help and didn't seem rushed at all.
We would definitely visit this Brewers Fayre pub again. In fact, both children have already asked to go back! I would highly recommend it for a family lunch out. For more information, or to find your local Brewers Fayre, check out their website.
Disclosure: We received a meal out as a family for the purpose of this review. This had no impact on my post, which is honest and fair.
