Tesco challenged me to try out their Hygro towels to see how durable they really are. Before I started running the B&B, I had no idea how dirty towels can get. They are regularly used to take off make-up, rub off fake tan and clean up bodily fluids *nice*. So I need the towels that we use to be well made, durable, able to withstand being washed at high temperatures and tumble dried on an almost daily basis.
We received bundles of five towels, which included a face cloth, hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet. The bath sheet is a great size and definitely what I would leave out for our guests. The face cloths are being used by my children as they're not something we tend to offer our guests. Although, perhaps I should start and then people would have something to take their make-up off with!
The first thing that struck me about the towels was just how soft they are. This is down to the unique Hygro technology, which is a spinning technique that creates a hollow fibre which traps air to give a thicker pile. The idea is that these towels will feel fluffier and plumper the more you wash and dry them. It sounds too good to be true!
The towels are slightly more expensive than other towels from the Tesco range, but I certainly think that in this case it's definitely worth paying a little more because they will last longer than other towels due to the Hygro technology. In my experience, the towels are fantastic. They have been washed at high temperatures, tumble dried for long periods of time and always come out softer. Compared with our current brand of towel, they feel far fluffier and look thicker when I put them out on the beds, so they have always been my first choice for our guests since I have had them.
To find out more about the range, check out Tesco's website. Prices start from £2.80 for a hand towel and go up to £9 for a bath sheet. They really are great value for money and, certainly in my experience, they have been improving each time I wash them. I also feel happy knowing that my guests have lovely fluffy towels in their rooms as it's so nice to get out of the shower or bath and have a soft towel rather than a slightly harder one.
