AEG 8000 Series T8DBG842R Heat Pump Tumble Dryer Review

This is my review of the AEG 8000 Series T8DBG842R Heat Pump Tumble Dryer. I don't know what I would do without a tumble dryer. When the B&B is busy, it's raining and I have 24 towels to dry I couldn't be without a tumble dryer. Our house doesn't have a vent in the wall for a vented dryer, so a heat pump dryer is perfect. The water from the machine gathers in a water container and you have to empty it after each drying cycle. You also have the option of plumbing it into the mains supply so that then you don't need to empty it at all. To be honest though, it takes very little time to empty and it is great that it can simply be plugged in, turned on and working.

An 8kg drum capacity is ample for a family of four and also the running of a B&B. There is a great range of programmes, including a unique AbsoluteCare® system which precisely controls the movement and temperature of the drying drum. This ensures that you can even dry wool jumpers  and delicate fabrics. The moisture is drawn out of the fabrics at a lower temperature of conventional tumble dryers and as such means fabrics last longer.

If you simply need to dry for a certain amount of time, it's possible to just select 'Time Drying'. I use this for clothes which have nearly dried and I just pop them in for twenty minutes. You can change the level of dryness that you want from your clothes too, which I find really useful for items that I am going to iron later. I have found that bed linen very rarely needs ironing after it has been in the tumble dryer when I use the anti-crease setting.

The ProSense technology ensures that the load dries efficiently as it adjusts the time remaining on the programme based on the weight of the load. This means that you only ever use the necessary amount of energy.

It is not a silent tumble dryer, but is certainly quieter than our old one. The annual energy cost is an average of £36.19,  which is fantastic. I imagine that it will cost us more as we use it at least five times a week and sometimes more than once.

We received the machine from AO.com and the delivery was wonderful. We were given a specific time slot and the delivery van called when it was five minutes away. They fitted the machine and made sure it was working before they left and they also took away all of the packaging with them which was really useful. Check out AO.com's website for more information on the AEG range.

Below is a video review of the machine, which looks in a little more detail at the features.

Disclosure: We were sent this tumble dryer by AO.com for the purpose of review. This had no impact on my post and all opinions are my own.
