Dear Beautiful Girl,
You are seven!
I know I say this every year, but you are growing up so fast. I looked at your newborn picture today and wondered where those seven years have gone!
I love you so, so much.
This year has been a big one for you. You have changed so much, and I'm so very proud of you. Whilst you are as fierce as ever, you have also embraced a more feminine side, wearing dresses, and even playing with dolls. You chose the wallpaper for your room, and have an incredible eye for detail.
In karate, you are now an orange belt. I adore watching you and you're one kick-ass little girl! Seriously, watching you practice your karate when you throw other people to the ground and then punch them in the stomach makes me so, so proud. There's a sentence I never thought I would say (or type)!
Your personality shines through. You wear your heart on your sleeve and we always know where we stand with you. I respect that. I hope you'll always say it as it is and call a spade a spade. It really does make life simpler, even if sometimes it isn't what people want to hear.
This year you went on your first ever trip away from us by yourself, a Beaver sleepover. You went with two good friends and stayed awake until 3am! You certainly went to bed early the day you came home. I love how independent you are, and how you can entertain yourself by playing or crafting for hours. You are happiest when you are creating, be it art, crafts or illustrating your own books.
In October, we went on holiday and I felt lonely and judged, but you helped me with your plan to be kind to me. I appreciated it more than you will ever know, and the bond between your brother and I definitely grew during that break. I'm looking forward to spending time with the two of you this year as well.
The pair of you are either thick as thieves or trying to kill each other, it seems there is no middle ground. I have no idea how the pair of you can swing so violently either way in the spaces of seconds!
You have had a few friendship problems this year, and I can honestly say that you behaved with grace and kindness in the face of adversity. I am so proud of the mature way you have dealt with the problems, and I hope that they sort themselves out. Don't worry though, you will find your friends, and they might not be the people you thought they would be.
Harry Potter is your latest addiction and your birthday party was a homage to all things Potter. We're all enjoying this new obsession, and are hoping to visit the Warner Brothers Studios this year for a tour together!
You are a wonderful girl, beautiful, fierce, strong-willed and independent. Keep doing what you are doing little one, you're amazing!
