A karate tournament and a day with my son - what has made me happy

What has made me happy this week? Last weekend was a ridiculously busy one for us. We had B&B guests for the first time since my hip operation back in October, so it was a bit of a shock to the system. They were absolutely lovely though and it was a really nice introduction back into work. On Saturday, my son and I went to Newcastle to see my team Oxford play. I wasn't so keen on how high up the away fans are seated, but we had a really enjoyable time, and drew 0-0, with a replay at Oxford early next week. I'll take that against a Premier League team. I also had a chance to catch up with one of my best friends since my teens. We used to spend all our time together, but sadly drifted away when he got married and moved further away. It was brilliant to see him again, he hasn't changed, and I really hope we can catch up again soon.

A 6.00 am alarm clock woke us on Sunday morning and we were in the car on our way to Liverpool by 7.00 am. It was my daughter's first ever karate tournament and one she was excited and nervous about. I found it very odd. As a parent I never expected I would be watching my child fight against others. In her first fight I felt sick with nerves, and even though she won, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. She absolutely loved it though, and I could tell by the look on her face that we would be back at the next tournament. She was knocked out (not literally) in the second round, but wasn't upset and was so pleased to have won a fight. The only downside was waiting six hours in a hot sports hall before her event started. It was definitely worth it for the look on her face though!

This week I also said goodbye to my rainbow hair. It made me a bit sad that it had faded so quickly, but I wasn't ready to look like I was grey! I have gone back to blonde and am very happy to look like me again! I definitely won't rule out changing the colour again in the future though!

Back to blonde

This coming weekend is filled with sports tournaments again, as well as time with friends. I can't wait! What has made you happy this week?
